    Buchanan Wharf, Glasgow

    The 470,000 sq ft development at Buchanan Wharf between Drum Property Group and Barclays is one of the single largest commercial property deals in living memory. Barclays, who will own the new office complex, will provide accommodation for up to 5,000 employees, doubling their work force in Scotland.


    The Haymarket, Edinburgh

    The £49.1m sale of The Haymarket to M&G Real Estate formed another milestone in this high-profile four-acre site in the heart of the capital.  With a gross development value of around £280m, the site has planning permission for the development of three Grade A office buildings totalling 350,000 sq ft, provision for 40,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, a 190-room hotel and a 172-room aparthotel.


    Skypark, Glasgow

    The £78.3m sale of iconic Glasgow office campus to UK institutional buyer, Hermes Real Estate reflected a net initial yield of over 8%.  JLL advised on the successful sale via a corporate vehicle involving some 70 tenants and a complicated ownership structure. Competitive bidding process, which resulted in the JLL team being able to attract one of the highest profile UK institutions back to the Glasgow market.


    20 West Register Street (formerly The Mint Building), Edinburgh

    2018 was a landmark year for CSG's 20 West Register Street. The pre-letting of the prime Grade A office accommodation in its entirety (more than 60,000 sqft) to global investment company Baillie Gifford, was accompanied by the lettings of the three ground floor retail/leisure units to Tattu, Franco Manca and a new bank branch. The off market forward sale of the building to Hines European Core Fund for more than £50 million represented another major milestone and concluded an exceptional year for Chris Stewart Group.


    Jordanhill Campus, Glasgow

    The sale of the historic Jordanhill Campus by the University of Strathclyde represents one of the largest residential land sales in Scotland in 2018.   At 31 acres and with the provision of over 400 high end residential units into the West End of Glasgow, the development represents an investment of over £100m while the capital receipts for the sale will enable the University of Strathclyde to further invest into the sector.


    Real Estate Portfolio, Dundee

    The acquisition of 1.3 million sq. ft mixed real estate portfolio valued at over £60m by Irish based Lotus Property was another sign of growing confidence in Dundee and Tayside.  The portfolio is predominantly based in Dundee and includes retails sites such as Marketgait and several industrial estates.  The wide-ranging sites comprise of a mixture of high spec offices, leisure and retail with tenants including Travelodge, Pure Gym, Grosvenor Casinos and Tesco Stores.   The news is the first investment in Scotland by North Ireland based Lotus, which with a team of 30 people, manages a combined real estate portfolio of over 2 million sq ft.


    Waldorf Astoria Caledonian Hotel, Edinburgh

    The £85m sale of the Caledonian Hotel to Twenty14 Holdings is the biggest hotel deal in Scotland for five years.  Overseas buyers and hospitality investors Twenty14 Holdings, part of the Abu Dhabi based Lulu International, represented a significant sale for the Hilton Hotel group who relaunched the hotel in 2012 after a £24m upgrade.  The purchase brings the promise of added investment into the Caley with news that a further £20m refurbishment is underway and the creation of over 100 new jobs.
